I tested this just in case, and it works just fine. Especially thanks for the missing carrier state initialization, Just one note, since you pretty much rewrite that little patch, it would be correct to attribute you as an author of it. I was recently (and still am) busy with my DVB card, so I didn't test my original patch enough. Beyond this patch, firewire networking is pretty much complete.
