Almost all uses of rawmemchr find the end of a string.  Since most targets use a
generic implementation, replacing it with strchr is better since that is optimized
by compilers into strlen (s) + s.  Also fix generic rawmemchr implementation to use
a cast to unsigned char on the char input.

Passes regress, OK for commit?

While the compiler does lower the strchr to strlen, why not use that replacement directly?

I'd prefer that and be explicit about what function you're using but like with mempcpy
(which also gets expanded into memcpy+size) there are always people arguing the
opposite... Since we taught the compiler to do the right thing in most of these cases,
it doesn't really matter as it's now syntactic sugar.
